Happy New Year!

It’s that wonderful time of the year where everybody is blogging about their stitching achievements for the past year, and their hopes and goals for next year.  I have spent a very enjoyable afternoon browsing around lots of blogs and seeing some beautiful stitching.  I’ve also seen that a lot of people are joining in a crazy challenge in January which was thought up by Minna and posted on her blog. The challenge involves starting 15 new projects, one each day from 1st January to 15th January, and trying to get them all finished by the end of the year.  Crazy!!  What’s even crazier is that for one fleeting moment I actually considered joining in LOL.  I have a cupboard full of WIPs, some of which have not seen the light of day for a very long time, and I was contemplating, even if it was for less than a couple of seconds, adding to that list!!

Luckily I came to my senses and have decided that this year I will do my best to finish some of my WIPs.  I’m not making any rules or regulations, not even making a list of the ones that I want to try and finish, I have done that too many times in the past and have failed miserably.  The one thing I would like to do is to be a “one at a time” stitcher.  I’ve been working exclusively on Celtic Mandala for the last couple of weeks now and am enjoying watching it growing day by day, something I miss when working on a rotation basis.  So, good luck to everyone who is taking part in the Challenge and I will look forward to seeing lots of new starts over the next couple of weeks.

Speaking of Celtic Mandala, here’s where I am at the moment with this design.

Still lots to do, including a few hundred beads to attach lol!

For Christmas this year I received a wonderful package of gifts from Claire who somehow managed to find the time in amongst all her SALs to make these beautiful Christmas ornaments.

Also, Claire sent me a pretty heart kit, in my favourite colours, and a thread winder, which is my first thread winder but I’m sure I will add to the collection during next year lol

So thank you Claire, for my only stitchy gifts this year!

Tonight we’re having a quiet night in, just us and the cats.  There’s always a lot of fireworks around here at New Year so we have to make sure that all of the cats are safely inside before the neighbours start their celebrations.  I’m sure we’ll have a glass or two of something to see in the new year and there will definitely be some stitching involved!
